Six intrepid Alpine patrollers from across the Western Appalachian Region participated in the 1st Annual Nordic Enhancement Clinic for Alpine Patrollers, hosted on January 30 by the Laurel Highlands Nordic Ski Patrol. In order to gain insight into the world of their Nordic counterparts, attendees shadowed their hosts for a full day on the trail in spectacular powder conditions. In addition to receiving some guidance on how to bring their Nordic skiing skills to the next level, the patrollers participated in exercises for improvising emergency toboggans, splints, and shelters in remote backcountry situations.
Nordic training
clinics are open to all. Please contact WAR Nordic Advisor
