Contributions to the National Ski Patrol:
Butch McQueen was a career science educator that began patrolling in 1979 and for more than forty years has served as a highly skilled Alpine and Nordic ski patroller. When he retired from his day job, his passion and commitment to the National Ski Patrol flourished. He has served in major leadership roles at all levels and his commitment as a highly skilled instructor and instructor trainer has been spread across five of our educational disciplines. As an Instructor and Instructor Trainer, he has taught countless ski patrollers and all levels while consistently excelling in the application of the latest educational methods and technology. Whether training new candidates, experienced and seasoned patrollers or new and returning instructors, Butch McQueen has delivered a high-quality educational experience. His development of hands-on training modules for the Instructor Development, Avalanche, Mountain Travel and Rescue and the Nordic Backcountry Programs is noteworthy. His crowning achievement to the National Ski Patrol became a reality through his creative contributions to the introduction, development and implementation of the nationally recognized Nordic Master Program.
