National Ski Patrol Outstanding Awards

Nomination Procedures
- Applications must go to the Region Awards Advisor, who then forwards them to the Eastern Division Awards Advisor. Only the winners of each category in the Division are forwarded to National for competition.
- A patroller can only be nominated for one category per year.
- A winner of a National Outstanding Award, individual or patrol, cannot apply for ANY Outstanding award for the next four seasons.
- No info back more than 4 years, INCLUDING the current season can be included on the form.
- If a patroller has service as a dually registered volunteer and paid patroller, and is nominated for any award other than Outstanding Paid Patroller or Outstanding Paid Patrol Representative, the nomination must be considered only on the volunteer service/experience.
- Information on the form must be totally ANONYMOUS: no names of individuals, patrols, Regions, or Division. Titles are OK. EX: “Division Historian” is OK, but NOT: “Eastern Division Historian”.
- Total number of patrollers for an Outstanding patrol application must include BOTH primary AND secondary registrants.
- If 2 separate patrols are registered with the same mountain, only achievements from the applying patrol can be listed.
- Applications must be sent in WORD Document form.
- Applications must be to Division BY March 1, therefore, Region should get them for review a couple weeks prior.
- Division winners are forwarded to National competition June 1, then usually announced at Fall refreshers.

Outstanding Large Alpine Patrol
- 41 or more patrollers, including primary and secondary registrants.
- Focus on what the patrol did as a whole, not the individual patrollers’ accomplishments.
Outstanding Small Alpine Patrol
- 40 or fewer patrollers, including primary and secondary registrants.
- Focus on what the patrol did as a whole, not its individual patrollers’ accomplishments.
Outstanding Nordic/Backcountry Ski Patrol
- A registered Nordic or BC Patrol; no restriction on the number of members.
- Focus on what the patrol did as a whole, not its individual patrollers’ accomplishments.
Outstanding Bike Patrol
- Any registered NSP Bike Patrol.
- Focus on what the patrol did as a whole, not its individual patrollers’ accomplishments.
Outstanding Alpine Patroller
- Active Alpine Patroller.
- *Patroller that is NOT eligible for YAP, OS Administrative, OS Patrol Representative, or those with offices/positions at/above Patrol Representative level.
Outstanding Young Adult Patroller
- Active YAP Patroller.
- No greater than 19 years of age on June 1 in the year nominated.
Outstanding Patrol Representative Award
- VOLUNTEER Patrol Representative.
- Is serving currently or served in this position during the immediately preceding season.
Outstanding Paid Patroller Award
- Paid Patrol Representative/Director.
- Is currently serving or served as Paid PD during the immediately preceding season.
Outstanding Bike Patroller
Outstanding Nordic/Backcountry Patroller Award
PETE SNYDER OUTSTANDING NORDIC PATROLLER AWARD
- Active Nordic or BC Patroller.
- *Patroller that is NOT eligible for YAP, OS Administrative, OS Patrol Representative, or those with offices/positions at/above Patrol Representative level.
Outstanding Paid Patroller
GEORGE WESSON JR. OUTSTANDING PAID PATROLLER AWARD
- Any REGISTERED paid patroller, including an Administrative Patroller.
Outstanding Patroller Award
MARY M. DAVIS OUTSTANDING PATROLLER AWARD
- Any volunteer OEC Patroller (non-OET credentialed).
- (This is the old “Auxiliary” certification).
- *Patroller that is NOT eligible for YAP, OS Administrative, OS Patrol Representative, or those with offices/positions at/above Patrol Representative level.
Outstanding OEC Instructor
DONALD HAMLIN OUTSTANDING OEC INSTRUCTOR AWARD
- Volunteer or Paid Patroller.
- An OEC Instructor for at least 3 years.
- Actively instructed for the past 2 seasons.
Outstanding Non-OEC Instructor
T. TYLER DAVIS OUTSTANDING INSTRUCTOR AWARD
- Volunteer or Paid Patroller.
- Volunteer certified instructor in any non-OEC discipline for at least 3 years.
- Actively instructed the past 2 seasons.
Outstanding Administrative Patroller Award
DONALD F. PAGE OUTSTANDING ADMINISTRATIVE PATROLLER AWARD
- For Region Level, or Higher, administrators.
- Volunteer patroller who has made an OS administrative contribution to the NSP beyond the patrol level.
- For a Section Chief, Region Director, Region or Division Supervisor/Advisor.
- IF he/she is eligible for the OS Patrol Representative Award, he/she is NOT eligible for this award.
Outstanding Alumni Award
AL PEL’S MEMORIAL OUTSTANDING ALUMNI AWARD
- For any current NSP alumni.
- NOT eligible for those that hold a position or office at or above the level of NSP Patrol Representative.
